George III Mahogany Library Open Armchair; of Generous Proportions

Description

Good George III mahogany library open armchair; of generous proportions with unusual depth and form; almost certainly Irish; the top rail having a raised tablet of stiff leaf carving above vertical fluted splat back leading to the outscrolled arms having brass sockets for the purpose of a reading rest; raised on moulded swept arm supports. The large padded seat being unusally deep upholstered in red buttoned leather with brass studding. Raised on square tapering legs with unusual double stretchers. Retaining original brass square caps having large barrel castors. Paper label to the underside M Butler Ltd, Ireland.
