Unusual Walnut and Box Wood Arch Top Mirror

19th century
Description

Beautiful and very unusual 19th century English figured walnut and box wood arched top console or pier mirror, circa 1880 and in good condition.

The figured walnut has a wonderful warmth to it and the contrast of the box wood carvings works very well together, then finished with the simple gilt beading to the edge of the mirror plate.

The mirror plate is the original and has some lovely foxing to the bottom corners which remind you of the age of this mirror. Also being a mercury plate, you have a mellow tone to the mirror plate, rather than the harsh brightness of a new mirror plate.

Great size mirror to hang alone, but will also work well as a console table mirror and overmantle mirror too.

Great mirror and certainly not something you are likely to find another!
