-1 Fine early 20th century original Adolf Loos Vienna fireside armchair secessionist oak Wien Thonet Bauhaus.

-A feature you will love are the bronze sunflower plaques thats are positioned on either side of the front back rest.

-This beautiful handmade armchair has decorative brass studding and plaited leather to the corners of the back and plaited leather to the 4 corners of the seat.

-Iconic design fireside armchair designed by Adolf Loos circa 1930.

-It is oak and has incised cross hatching to the front stretcher.

-The leather upholstery is original.

-This model was used 1931 / 1932 for the Music Room in the apartment of Hugo Semier in Pilsen.

-The chairs originally stood in front of the fireplace and were presented at the Werkbund housing estate in Vienna in 1932.

-It has the registration design number impressed in the wood. 683982.

-Provenance bought from a private sellers collection in Wales.

-About Loos: Adolf Franz Karl Viktor Maria Loos (10 December 1870-23 August 1933) was an Austrian and Czech architect and influential European theorist of modern architecture.

-His essay ornament and crime advocated smooth and clear surfaces in contrast to the lavish decorations of the fin de siècle and also to the more modern aesthetic principles of the Vienna Secession. -Loos became a Pioneer of modern architecture and contributed a body of theory and criticism of Modernism in architecture and design.

The back is a bit 'wavy' from being leaned back on.

-Having various noticeable charming age related wear, scuffs, scratches, discolouration, tears, stains commensurate with usage & age.

-A small recent leather glue repair has been made to the leather on 1 side also 2 new brass studs have been fitted to give the leather back rest additional support shown in pictures.

Our primary payment method is by (BACS) & International bank wire transfer, we can email you an invoice with our banking details upon request. Customs Payment & Brexit

Following the UK leaving the EU on 1st January 2021 (BREXIT) there have been some changes to customs & duty charges for EU customers. Tax and import duty varies from country to country so we recommend you check with your local tax office to see if any fees will be payable.
