Yolanda Gray Antiques has dated this piece to the 1910s.
The chair seat has been newly upholstered, to a professional standard, in top quality full grain avocado green leather, which has been finished with hand-tacked brass studs to the perimeter. The chair frame has been glued solid and the wood has been French polished, by hand, to a professional standard, therefore the colour and patination are of an excellent standard. The chair sits on four splayed solid beech legs that terminate on replacement English-made solid brass castors. Beech was commonly used for leg construction, due to its inherent strength. The office chair incorporates a revolving mechanism which rotates 360 degrees; the seat height can be adjusted by turning a ribbed metal screw on the underside of the seat. The mechanism also features a reclining action, the tension of which can be adjusted by turning a small wheel at the front of the mechanism. The chair mechanism has been cleaned, restored and serviced and is in excellent working order. The chair frame is sturdy and the item is extremely comfortable to sit on, as it features a lovely padded seat.

Condition Report:
This Edwardian ash revolving desk chair and mechanism are in excellent condition, considering its age. Nominal old use marks to the leading edges of the chair but nothing significant considering the age of the item. The chair frame has been glued solid and the wood has been French polished, by hand, to a professional standard, therefore the colour and patination are of an excellent standard. The chair seat has been newly upholstered, to a professional standard, in top quality full grain avocado green leather, which incorporates the traditional brass studwork tacks to the seat perimeter. There is a small indent in the leather at the right-front corner (see photos), but it does not detract from the overall look of the chair. The leather is otherwise in excellent condition, with no other signs of wear, fading or damage. The adjustable height mechanism is in good working order, having just been cleaned, restored and serviced. There is some play to the mechanism but this is perfectly acceptable, and in line with the age of the chair. The chair features a golden-brown colour, having been professionally French polished, by hand, in our workshops. The chair sits on four splayed solid legs that terminate on replacement English-made solid brass castors. This Victorian desk chair is solid in joint and ready to use.
