A Pair of Regency Period Library Bergere Chairs

Description

Made from Cuban mahogany, the chairs are known as Uxbridge Library Reading Chairs as a similar designed chair was supplied by GIllow to Henry Bayly, Ist Earl of Uxbridge in 1807. The chairs have brown leather cushions that were with the chairs when they were purchased by myself. If these were replaced with smaller buttoned squab cushions the chairs appearance would be greatly improved. An image of a similar pair of chairs with such cushions is shown. The cost to make similar cushions can be supplied upon request. The cane is in good order with a few small areas of damage that can be patched and stained to match the existing.
