Description

A striking set of four mahogany chairs from the 1830's and very much of the design and quality of Gillows of Lancaster and London. In good condition for their years and only small evidence of light restoration probably at the same time as the re-upholstery approx 25 years ago. The top rail has wonderful figured mahogany veneers that are picked up again on the serpentine shaped face of the rail just below the seat. The slender turned legs have crisp reeding/fluting to the centre section and are topped with carved flowers at the top. The seats ae of the drop in variety which are inexpensive to recover should you wish. That said the green velvet is in good serviceable condition. Cleaned and wax polished ready to use.
