Large and fabulous example of the fascinating ''tramp art'' style mirror, beautifully carved in multiple layers of basswood and to great detail. I have dated this piece to the mid 19th century with how it is made, the finish and the condition.
The effect gives you a lovely depth to the frame and super decorative. This one is a large scale piece and in wonderful original condition.
You can hang the mirror in ''portrait'' or ''landscape'' and it is also not terribly heavy, so no problem to hang on a single fixing and wire.
