The chair features a curved bar back, secured by wrap around arms, on shaped vertical supports.
The chair seat has been newly upholstered, to a professional standard, in top quality full grain burgundy red leather, which has been finished with hand-tacked brass studs to the perimeter. The underside of the seat has been webbed in the traditional manner. The chair rotates 360 degrees. The rotating mechanism has been cleaned and serviced and is in good working order. The chair sits on four splayed solid mahogany legs that terminate on replacement English made solid brass & mug castors. The chair has also been French polished, by hand, to a professional standard. The chair is very comfortable to sit on.
Condition Report:
The desk chair and mechanism are in excellent overall condition, considering its age. Nominal old use marks to the leading edges of the chair frame, but nothing significant considering the age of the item. The chair has been glued and the frame French polished by hand, to a professional standard. The chair seat has been newly upholstered, to a professional standard, in top quality full grain burgundy red leather, which has been finished with hand-tacked brass studs to the perimeter and traditional webbing to the underside. The revolving mechanism is in good working order, having been stripped down, cleaned and serviced. There is some play to the mechanism, but this is perfectly acceptable, and in line with the age of the chair, and will be found in all office chairs of this age. The chair sits on four splayed solid mahogany legs that terminate on replacement English made solid brass & mug castors. This Victorian office chair is well constructed, solid in joint and ready to use.
