Large French Gilt Landscape Overmantle Mirror

19th century
Description

Lovely proportioned French c19th landscape overmantle mirror with an unusual deep moulded frame and a wonderfully worn finish throughout.

The mirror can be hung as you see it here as "landscape" but can also work as a dressing mirror if hung "portrait" too.

The frame has a repeated leaf motif in plaster and the original gilding has worn so you can see the red base coat coming through which helps give this mirror a really very decorative finish.

The mirror is the original mercury glass and also has some foxing to it, adding to the ambience!

Viewing here in Uppingham is very welcome in my spacious barn studio but also I have a showroom based within the Uppingham Antiques Centre, which is well worth a visit and have a good lunch in town too!
