Gillows Library Chair for Restoration

Description

For restoration this rare early 19th Century Gillows of Lancaster stamped open library armchair in brown oak. The cartouche-shaped and curved back joined to the shepherds crook arms. The oval drop in seat enclosed by a moulded oak frieze with old cream upholstery and the whole raised on cabriole forelegs legs headed with acanthus and “C” scroll carving and terminating on claw and ball feet with splayed legs to the back. The front seat rail stamped Gillows of Lancaster and the chair is offered in original untouched condition but in need of restoration. A very similar example can be found in the book 'Gillows of Lancaster 1730-1840' page 231 plate 225 by Susan E Stuart. Dimensions:- Max.Height…36''/ 91.5cm. Width… 24.5''/ 61.5cm. Depth…22''/ 56cm. Delivery to most of U.K. mainland £50.
