M Lees and Sons has dated this piece to the 18th Century.
. The top rail of each chair with a central ‘grotesque’ mask and the shaped centre back-splats each with contrasting amorini or putti design detail.

The frames and shapely cabriole fore-legs all inlaid with trailing foliage and flower-head designs , the shaped front seat-rail with inlaid ivory classical-style urn detail .
The ‘balloon’ shaped seats upholstered in serviceable decorative fabric (could be recovered at cost in client’s choice of replacement fabric) .

Evidence of minor historic extinct woodworm , which has been further treated in our workshops. Minor loss of ivory line inlay to one chair .
Good mellow faded colour and patina to the walnut which combines well to form a subtle contrast to the quality ivory inlay .
