Large French Gilt "Margin" Frame Mirror 66''

19th century
Description

This really is a beautiful example of a c19th French gilt "margin" frame overmantle mirror or console table mirror. The gilding to this mirror is in super condition and retains the majority of the original water gilded finish, along with all five original mercury mirror plates being in good condition too.

Known as a "margin" frame mirror due to the main mirror plate being surrounded with four further mirror plates which are set at an angle which give a lovely effect and looks especially good if you happen to be hanging this mirror somewhere that you will see it from all angles.

This is also a large example at 66'' total height, so it will hang well as an overmantle mirror, but will also free hang well as a stand alone feature mirror, or you may be planning to use it as a dressing mirror.

Great quality and great condition, although I haven't added a photo of it, the rear of the mirror retails its original boards too.

Measuring:
