We can specifically date this chair as the date “6.1.95” is stamped into the cast iron central block on the underneath of the chair (see photo). The armchair features a curved oak bar back, incorporating a pierced handle, above an ash curved rail, which also forms down-curved wrap around arms, supported by a bank of elegant ring turned spindles.
The chair has also been French polished, by hand, to a professional standard. The chair sits on four splayed solid oak legs that terminate on replacement English made solid brass castors. The office chair incorporates a revolving mechanism which rotates 360 degrees; the seat height can be adjusted simply by turning the seat one way or the other to raise and lower the chair. The chair mechanism has been cleaned, restored and serviced and is in excellent working order. The chair frame is sturdy and the item is extremely comfortable to sit on, as it features a lovely padded seat.

Condition Report:
The desk chair and mechanism are in excellent condition, considering its age. Nominal old use marks to the leading edges of the chair but nothing significant considering the age of the item. The chair has been glued and the frame French polished by hand, to a professional standard. The chair seat has been newly upholstered, to a professional standard, in top quality full grain sage green leather, which incorporates the traditional brass studwork tacks to the seat perimeter. Therefore, the leather is in excellent condition, with no wear, fading or damage. The adjustable height mechanism is in good working order, having just been cleaned, restored and serviced. There is some play to the mechanism but this is perfectly acceptable, and in line with the age of the chair. The chair features a golden-brown colour. The chair sits on four splayed solid legs that terminate on replacement English made solid brass castors. This item is solid in joint and ready to use.
