A really good example of Japanese metal work , made of dark bronze with a silver lined interior .The top in mixed metals of bronze , silver , copper , shibuichi , gold and shakudo .The miniature scenes depicting a scribe , a dragon chasing the pearl , men playing `Go` a catfish being held . The catfish is in solid shibuichi and wonderfully inlaid in shakudo to highlight the catfish skin texture . The base has two recessed panels depicting a man riding a catfish .Unsigned .Don has been dealing in Meiji period art for 60 years , exhibiting in London , New York , Baltimore , Miami and Shanghai.
