Here is a fine quality antique English late Victorian Aesthetic mahogany and leather revolving captain’s office armchair, circa 1900, which has been newly upholstered, and is in excellent condition.

The chair incorporates a curved padded back, which also features a curved foliate carved lower portion. The back is secured to padded arms, on shaped vertical supports. The chair has been newly upholstered in top quality full grain sage green leather, which has been finished with hand-tacked brass studs to the perimeter. The underside of the seat has been re-webbed in the traditional manner. This beautiful piece sits on four splayed mahogany cabriole legs, which terminate on English made replacement solid brass & mug castors. The chair rotates 360 degrees, the seat height is fixed and the chair is not designed to recline or be height adjustable. The chair mechanism is in good working order, having been cleaned and serviced. The chair is extremely comfortable to sit on.

Condition Report:

The chair and mechanism are in excellent working condition. Nominal old use marks to the leading edges of the mahogany frame, but nothing significant considering the age of the item. The chair features a rich mahogany colour, having been cleaned and French polished by hand, to a professional standard, in our workshops. The seat has been newly upholstered, to a professional standard, in top quality full grain green leather. Therefore, the leather is in excellent condition, with no signs of wear and tear, damage or holes etc. The chair frame incorporates the traditional brass studwork tacks to the seat perimeter and traditional hessian material to the underside. The mechanism has been cleaned and serviced. There is some play to the revolving mechanism but this is perfectly acceptable, and in line with the age of this piece of furniture. The chair incorporates replacement English made solid brass & mug castors, which are in excellent condition. This item is solid in joint and ready to use.
