Strictly Vetted Dealers

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

The Sustainable Choice

Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

This Edwardian decorative box takes the sculptural form of a pineapple, crafted from brass and gilt brass with an overall gold colour. The piece displays a chiselled diamond lattice pattern across the body, a detachable leaf crown lid acting as a handle, and visible solder joins along the midsection where the two halves split to reveal a gilded interior. Minor surface marks appear across the exterior metal surface. The box measures 25.5 cm high, 11.5 cm wide and 11.5 cm deep. In a modern interior, this caddy functions as a tabletop storage container suitable for placement on a sideboard top in a living room, dining room or hallway. The Hollywood Regency and Art Deco glamour style suits living spaces seeking a statement decorative accessory for holding small items.

FAQs

Historically imported from the Americas as tropical luxuries, pineapples became established symbols of hospitality, wealth, and welcome in European architecture and decorative arts throughout the 18th, 19th, and 20th centuries.

These decorative containers are typically manufactured from cast brass, bronze, or silver-plated copper, often featuring hand-chiselled lattice patterning and cold-joined metal leaf crowns.

Authentic period pieces exhibit substantial cast weight, hand-finished surface chiselling rather than uniform modern machine stamping, natural surface oxidisation along internal joins, and hand-fitted lidded sections.

Position the piece on a sideboard, bar cart, or mantelpiece alongside contrasting textures like glass, marble, or dark timber to draw attention to its metallic finish and sculptural silhouette.

Maintain the surface by dusting regularly with a soft dry cloth, avoiding abrasive chemical cleaners that strip the natural aged patina and gilt highlights from within the incised decorative grooves.
