Tom Scott Antiques has dated this piece to the 1880s.
The embossed leather is in good condition to both chairs, although there is a minor split to one of them, but this really isn't noticeable and is totally stable. Both chairs are solid and certainly useable.
Very decorative pair of chairs and would work well as hall chairs, desk chairs, bedroom chairs etc.
As with most antique walnut, there are traces of previous worm holes in the underside of the seat, but as a precaution, the chairs have been treated and beeswax fills the old holes, so it is of non concern.
