Description:
Here is a fine quality antique English late Edwardian solid oak revolving office armchair, by Miscellaneous Disposals Syndicate, circa 1920, which has been newly upholstered in a sage green leather and is in excellent condition.
James's Square, London, W.11. The armchair features a comfortable curved upholstered bar back, connected to wrap around arms, supported by an elegant vertical fan back. The stuff over chair seat has been newly upholstered, to a professional standard, in top quality full grain sage green leather, which has been finished with hand-tacked brass studs to the perimeter. The chair has also been French polished, by hand, to a professional standard. The chair sits on four splayed solid oak legs that terminate on top quality replacemnt English solid brass & mug castors. The office chair incorporates a revolving Hillcrest mechanism and it rotates 360 degrees; the seat height can be adjusted by turning a ribbed metal screw on the underside of the chair. The Hillcrest mechanism also features a reclining action, the tension of which can be adjusted by turning a small wheel at the front of the mechanism. The chair mechanism has been cleaned, restored and serviced and is in excellent working order. The chair frame is sturdy and the item is extremely comfortable to sit on, as it features a lovely padded seat.

Condition Report:
This Edwardian Hillcrest office chair and mechanism are in excellent condition, considering its age. Nominal old use marks to the leading edges of the chair but nothing significant considering the age of the item. The chair seat has been newly upholstered, to a professional standard, in top quality full grain sage green leather, which incorporates the traditional brass studwork tacks to the seat perimeter. Therefore, the leather is in excellent condition, with no wear, fading or damage. The Hillcrest reclining and adjustable height mechanism is in good working order, having just been cleaned, restored and serviced. There is some play to the mechanism but this is perfectly acceptable, and in line with the age of the chair. The chair features a rich oak colour, having been professionally French polished, by hand, in our workshops. The chair features top quality replacemnt English solid brass & mug castors, which are in excellent condition. This item is solid in joint and ready to use.
