Pair of French Louis Xvi Style Gilt Armchairs

19th century
Description

Very good quality pair of 19th century French carved and gilded open armchairs or "fauteuil."

Beautifully carved and well proportioned chairs, giving you a generous size seat and support. The original gilding has aged well, but as you can see from the images, there are worn areas which I have left as it reflects their originality, in my opinion! However, if you would rather the gilding to be touched up, no problem to do for you and we can discuss.

The current upholstery, although not new, is in good condition and finished with brass studs. These are comfortable armchairs, suitable for a drawing room, living room evening chair, but would also work very well as bedroom chairs.

Priced as the pair.
