The chairs feature six spindles and a central wheel back splat to the inside of a single piece oval shaped ash moulded back rail, supported by two further supporting spindles at the back of the chair, for added strength. The back rail is connected to the saddle shaped elm seats and turned beech legs connected by “H” beech stretchers, which makes them a firm utility chair, ideal for daily use in the kitchen. The design of the side chairs is reflected in the armchairs, with the addition of shaped arms on ring turned supports. The armchairs possess their own distinct provenance; their previous owner having attached a written history under both armchairs, dated 2003, detailing to whom they belonged and touching upon beloved childhood memories of when the armchairs were originally in use (see photos). This style of chair first originated in High Wycombe, Buckinghamshire, England. The chairs feature a stunning rich colour with fabulous grain configuration visible on the seats, having been professionally French polished by hand in our workshops.

Armchair Dimensions:
External Height = 103cm or 40½” or 3ft 4½”
External Width = 57.1cm or 22½” or 1ft 10½”
External Depth = 51.5cm or 20¼” or 1ft 8¼”
Side Chair Dimensions:
External Height = 89.4cm or 35” or 2ft 11”

External Width = 42cm or 16½” or 1ft 4½”
External Depth = 47cm or 18½” or 1ft 6½”
Condition Report:
These wheel back dining chairs are in excellent condition, with nominal old use marks to the leading edges (e.g. seats, back and legs) but nothing significant considering the age of them. The chairs have been glued and have been professionally French polished by hand, to a professional standard, in our workshops. The chairs therefore feature a stunning rich colour with fabulous grain configuration visible on the seats. This is a harlequin (matched) set and therefore there is some variation in the colour, size and age of the chairs. The harlequin set comprises two earlier armchairs, with six later side chairs, all of which are constructed of similar timbers and possess a similar colour. There are no breaks to the backs or legs of the chairs. The chairs sit firm on the ground and do not wobble. They are well constructed, solid in joint and ready to use.
