Description:
This is a fine quality antique English harlequin set of 12 ash, elm and beech hoop / stick back kitchen-dining chairs, including two armchairs, circa 1880 - 1920, from the late Victorian period, in good condition.
The back rail is connected to the single piece saddle shaped elm seats and turned beech legs connected by “H” beech stretchers, which makes them a firm utility chair, ideal for daily use in the kitchen. The armchairs are designed in the same manner with an ash hoop back rail and arms, with a saddle shaped elm seat. This style of chair first originated in High Wycombe, Buckinghamshire, England. The chairs feature a stunning rich colour with fabulous grain configuration visible on the seats. These chairs boast the classic country styling; they would be at home in either a traditional or contemporary setting and they consume very little space.

If you are looking for a different number of chairs, we do have other size sets available.
Side Chair Dimensions:
External Height = 87.7cm or 34½” or 2ft 10½”
External Width = 44cm or 17” or 1ft 5”
External Depth = 48.4cm or 19” or 1ft 7”

Arm Chair Dimensions:
External Height = 89.7cm or 35” or 2ft 11”
External Width = 55.5cm or 21” or 1ft 9”
External Depth = 48cm or 18” or 1ft 6”
Condition Report:
The chairs are in good condition, with nominal old use marks to the leading edges (e.g. seats, back and legs) but nothing significant considering the age of them. The chair joints have been glued to ensure they are solid in joint. The chairs have been French polished by hand, to a professional standard, in our workshops and means therefore exhibit a warm rich colour. This is a harlequin (matched) set and therefore there is some variation in the colour and size of the chairs. The chairs sit firm on the ground and do not wobble. They are well constructed, solid in joint and ready to use.
