Regency Carved and Gilded Convex Mirror

19th century
Description

Circa 1815, Regency carved and gilded convex mirror. Surmounted by an eagle or ho-ho bird standing on a rocky out crop with wings expanded and foliate carving with s-scrolls either side. The mirror frame has a moulded edge, and gilded circular balls and a rim of ribbed, ebonized wood. At the base is further foliate carving and finishing with downward facing leaves which taper to a simple but elegant finish. The mirror retains its original convex glass.
