Description:
This is a fine quality antique English Victorian solid walnut revolving office armchair, with a newly upholstered burgundy red leather seat, circa 1880, in excellent condition. The armchair features a curved, bar shaped back rail, supported between straight back supports, with an elegant vertical central splat, carved with scribe etchings in the form of a geometric design featuring ‘C’ scroll carvings. The back is secured by scroll arms on elegant vertical turned supports. The seat, which has been newly upholstered, to a professional standard, in top quality full grain burgundy red leather. The underside of the seat has been re-webbed in the traditional manner. The chair sits on four splayed solid walnut legs that terminate on top quality replacement solid brass castors, made in England. The chair incorporates it original cast iron mechanism allowing it to rotate 360 degrees. The chair mechanism is not height adjustable, nor does it recline. Please note, Victorian office chairs were not designed to recline or be height adjustable.

Condition Report:
The chair is in excellent condition. Nominal old use marks to the leading edges of the chair frame and seat but nothing significant considering the age of the item. The seat has been newly upholstered, to a professional standard, in top quality full grain burgundy red leather. The revolving mechanism is in good working order, having just been cleaned. The chair features a rich golden-brown birch colour, having been cleaned and French polished by hand, to a professional standard, in our workshops. The original castors have been replaced with later solid brass English made castors, which are in excellent condition. This item is solid in joint and ready to use.
