Archival Detail
Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

A duobaoge, translating as a cabinet of many treasures, is a traditional Chinese display shelf designed with asymmetrical open compartments to showcase small art objects, ceramics, and ornaments. Popularised during the Qing dynasty and early twentieth century, these stands typically utilise dense tropical hardwoods such as hongmu.

Traditional Chinese display stands are constructed from dense tropical hardwoods, including hongmu and zitan, using traditional mortise and tenon joinery without metal nails. Craftspeople apply hand-carved decorative details, scrollwork, and natural wax finishes to highlight the wood grain.

Authentic period examples feature hand-fitted joinery, dense hardwood grain, and genuine age patina within carved crevices. The wood exhibits manual carving marks rather than uniform modern machine cuts, alongside the characteristic weight of solid rosewood timber.

Positioning a circular display shelf on a sideboard, console table, or mantelpiece creates a geometric focal point for displaying small sculptures, porcelain, or mineral specimens. The dark wood tone contrasts effectively against neutral modern backdrops.

Maintain hardwood stands by keeping them away from direct heat sources and strong sunlight to prevent timber shrinkage or cracking. Dust regularly with a dry, soft lint-free cloth and apply natural beeswax polish periodically to preserve the luster.
