Newly upholstered pair of c19th French solid mahogany Empire armchairs with ebonised sphinx heads and scrolled backs.
I have upholstered the pair of armchairs with a woven chenille and finished with a pewter tone scrolled braid and the seats have been fully restored and are very comfortable.
Well carved pair of armchairs with the sphinx heads supporting the arms of the chairs and their scrolling backs and carved panel. As you can see from the photos, there are some signs of age from being knocked on the scrolls, but they are fully stable and am only mentioning them so you are aware.
Not any concern and don''t notice really.
Great pair of chairs and certainly comfortable enough to be used all evening, or if you are looking for a pair of decorative chairs, these look fantastic from all sides.
