Description:
Here is a superb set of six antique English William IV rosewood carved dining chairs, circa 1835, with newly upholstered drop-in seats, in excellent condition. The chairs boast a shaped top rail with turned detail and shaped upright supports, with an exquisite carved floral central splat. The chairs feature “drop-in” seats, have been newly upholstered (to a professional standard) in new top-quality taupe colour structured cotton material, with traditional hessian backing to the underside. The seats are raised on turned inverted tulip legs to the front and sabre legs to the rear. The chairs are heavy in weight, which is a good sign of fine quality and it means they are sturdy.
The chairs feature a warm, rich brown rosewood colour. As they boast the original polish, they have a lovely colour and patination; this can only be achieved through age and the years of care and cleaning they have received.
These chairs would look superb in a variety of rooms, especially the dining room. They would certainly grace any home in either a contemporary or traditional setting; they are a great investment, as they are an extremely functional item. The chairs are in excellent condition. This is a true set of chairs; they have not been matched together from smaller sets of chairs, which is sometimes the case. Nominal old use marks to the leading edges, but nothing significant considering the age of the item. The chairs have been newly upholstered (to a professional standard) in taupe coloured cotton material. Consequently, the upholstery is clean and free from any signs of wear or damage. The chairs are elegant, yet well-constructed, ensuring they are sturdy. The chairs boast the original polish, which ensures a fantastic patination and warm colour to the rosewood. All chairs are solid in joint, with no loose joints; they do not wobble and are ready to use.
