M Lees and Sons has dated this piece to the 19th Century.
Raised on carved and fluted tapering supports , the shaped back , top-rail and frame with finely-detailed carved decoration . The carved open-arms with padded armrests , the frame with carved rosette blocks . The broad seat with a bowed and shaped outline front rail .

In good original strong condition with atmospheric period-style rubbing to areas of the gilding revealing the gesso ground beneath in the C18th period manner . Minor chips and losses to the gilding commensurate with age, use and purpose.

Upholstered in it's apparently original dusty-pink velvet /corded type fabric in good serviceable condition.
An impressively-scaled gilded armchair to add opulence and glamour to an interior scheme , in either a drawing-room or bedroom/boudoir setting.
