Pair Mahogany Armchairs Mid 18th Century

Fine and rare pair of mid 18th century mahogany armchairs exstensively carved with an amalgam of design book styles having chinese fret front legs and gothic quatrefore motifs to the backs united by the scrolling foliate and floral carving. This wealth of ornament indicates a workshop such as Wright and Elwick of Wakefield whose known work shares much of their detail certain historic repairs probably the arm rest of the chair and a splice to one upright of the other numbered VI and X indicating a set of at least 10 chairs.
