Set of Six Welsh Oak Farmhouse Dining Chairs, C. 1760

Description

Superb set of six dining chairs in dense native Welsh oak. The Chippendale-style back supports have an undulating crest rail above a boldly-shaped central splat over a solid seat with a beaded surround, raised on square legs united by stretchers.

It is rare to find a true set of six farmhouse chairs and even more rare to find chairs of such quality. These are of a good size, unlike many of the period.

Carmarthenshire, west Wales, circa 1760.
