Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

An estate cabinet is a specialized piece of case furniture historically used on large properties and country estates to organize land records, correspondence, and legal documentation. They typically feature fitted interiors with pigeonholes, small drawers, and filing slots concealed behind double doors.

These cabinets were predominantly constructed from dense hardwoods like mahogany, oak, or walnut, often featuring flame veneers on visible door panels. High-quality examples incorporate flush brass recessed handles, hand-dovetailed drawer joints, and solid wood drawer linings.

Authentic pieces display period-correct signs of craftsmanship, such as irregular hand-cut dovetails, original cast brass fittings with age-related patination, hand-planed back panels, and natural shrinkage marks in the timber consistent with age.

An estate cabinet works effectively as a statement piece in a contemporary home office, hallway, or living room, serving as hidden storage for electronics, stationery, or barware to combine historic character with practical modern functionality.

Keep the wood away from direct sunlight and artificial heat sources to prevent cracking or fading. Dust regularly with a clean, soft cloth and apply a high-grade beeswax polish once or twice a year to preserve the timbers patination and luster.
