Huge 19th century French antique gilt rectangular overmantel mirror in excellent condition.

It dates from around 1870.

It has its beautiful original real gilt (gold leaf) on gesso frame in a floral design and its huge original mercury glass mirror plate with lovely foxing. Mercury glass gives a reflection and sparkle like no other and is becoming incredibly hard to find.

It would look stunning as a leaner mirror in a large lounge or bedroom, above a huge fireplace or hanging on a large wall.
