The chairs are constructed of solid mahogany and feature a shaped top rail, with a finely executed pierced central fretwork back splat, flanked by vertical moulded rails. Incorporating a drop-in seat design, the seat frames are finely moulded. The seats have been newly upholstered in top quality embroidered structured silk & cotton upholstery with a gold diamond pattern on a wine-red background, and new hessian undersides. Therefore, the seats are in excellent and clean condition, with no marks. The seats are well padded and firm but comfortable at the same time - you do not sink into the seat. The chairs feature moulded chamfered block legs to the front, with sabre legs to the rear, united by ‘H’ stretchers for additional strength. Chairs with chamfered legs denote quality. This is a true set of chairs; they have not been matched together from other sets of chairs.

Dimensions:

Height = 94.2cm or 37?” or 3ft 1?”

Width = 55cm or 21?” or 1ft 9?”

Depth = 54cm or 21¼” or 1ft 9¼”

Seat Height = 47.5cm or 18¾” or 1ft 6¾”

Seat Width = 51.5cm or 20¼” or 1ft 8¼”

Seat Depth = 41cm or 16” or 1ft 4?”

Back Height = 51.5cm or 20¼” or 1ft 8¼”

Condition Report:

The chairs are in excellent original condition. Nominal old use marks to the leading edges of the frames, but nothing significant considering the age of the item. There have been old minor repairs to the pierced fretwork splats (this is to be expected from full period Georgian chairs) – the splats are solid in joint. The chairs have been French polished and all loose joints have been glued in our workshop; therefore, the chairs are now solid in joint. The seats have been newly upholstered in top quality embroidered structured silk & cotton upholstery with a gold diamond pattern on a wine-red background. Therefore, the seats are in excellent and clean condition, with no marks. As the chairs retain the original polish, the frames boast a lovely original colour and patination. They are solid in joint (not loose or wobbly) and are ready to use.

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.
