Description:

Here is a fine quality and substantial antique English Victorian beech revolving office armchair, circa 1890, which is in excellent condition. The armchair features a comfortable curved bar back, connected to wrap around arms, supported by an elegant vertical fan back. The chair seat is designed with a saddle shaped seat, which makes it more comfortable to set at. The chair sits on four splayed oak legs that terminate on solid brass & mug castors. As this is an early office chair, it is not designed to recline or be height adjustable. The cast iron chair mechanism has been cleaned, restored and serviced and is in excellent working order. The chair frame is sturdy and the item is extremely comfortable to sit on, as it features a lovely padded seat.

Condition Report:

The chair and mechanism are in excellent condition, considering its age. Nominal old use marks to the leading edges of the chair but nothing significant considering the age of the item. The chair seat has been newly upholstered in top quality full grain dark green leather, which incorporates the traditional brass studwork tacks to the seat perimeter. As this is an early office chair, it is not designed to recline or be height adjustable. The cast iron chair mechanism has been cleaned, restored and serviced and is in excellent working order. The chair frame is sturdy and the item is extremely comfortable to sit on, as it features a lovely padded seat. There is some play to the mechanism but this is perfectly acceptable, and in line with the age of the chair. The chair features a mellow honey colour, having been cleaned and French polished in our workshops. The chair features brass & ceramic mug castors, which are also in excellent condition. This item is solid in joint and ready to use.
