A fine and decorative mirror by ‘Miroir Brot’ the famous Parisian firm of mirror makers established in 1826. The mirror has a gilt frame with the original pleated silk covered front door, this opens to reveal a mirrored back to the door and a mirror in the back of the gilt frame. The mirror has been made to mount on the wall and the mirror plates are original and in good condition, there may well have been three mirrors originally. The pleated silk has degraded in places slightly and the gilt frame has some minor knocks and repairs. The mirror retains the original ‘Miroir Brot’ handle. The whole has a great look of faded elegance to it and screams the quality of the manufacturer. C.1880.
