Superb Pair Of French Empire Armchairs In Leather

Status: This item has been sold
Sold by: Tom Scott Antiques

Fantastic and rare pair of early c19th French Empire barrel back library chairs or armchairs in pale walnut, circa 1840 and upholstered in an ivory leather, finished with brass studs.

Great shape to these chairs, whether you are to use them as desk chairs, hall chairs, armchairs or just to place in a corner for decor...they look fantastic from all angles.

Being a library chair or desk chairs, they do have a slightly shorter seat depth than a typical armchair, although still very much ok to use as armchairs.

The shape to the tub or barrel backs is really lovely, made in solid walnut and carved with the typical sweeping arms.

Although not newly upholstered in the ivory leather, they are in excellent condition, sit very well and are very comfortable...many uses for these chairs really, but certainly something to be seen and admired.
