Mid 19th Century Mahogany Armchair

A mid 19th century English mahogany and parcel gilt fauteuil in the French taste, the arched back finely carved with acanthus and beading with square terminals and downswept fluted arms with stuffover rests and carved ends, with downswept supports carved with acanthus and harebells, the stuffover seat over a shaped seatrail carved all around with gilded scrolls and blocks at the corners, on inverted baluster supports with gilded leaves and spiral fluting. English, in the Louis XVI style, circa 1870. Recovered in a warm grey fabric by Colefax and Fowler.
