Really fantastic pair of original French Empire period tub back armchairs, newly upholstered in classic antique French linen and finished with a double pipe edging. Circa 1840.The pair of armchairs are a generous size, so they are very comfortable and with the tub or barrel back shape, they are ideal for sitting in all evening.They are also a beautiful chair to look at from all sides!The solid mahogany show wood frames are very elegant, I especially like the sweeping show wood running from the base of the chair up the side to the top rail.Classic Empire style, but unusual to have the arms fully upholstered like this...generally you will find an ''open'' armchair without the upholstery.
