Description:
Here is a fine quality set of 10 antique English Victorian mahogany chairs, circa 1890, stamped J.B., with newly upholstered seats, in good original condition.
A reeded central rail, encompassing decorative spindles, secures the back. The chairs features drop in seats, which have been newly upholstered in top quality hardwearing oatmeal colour structured chenille upholstery. The chair frame is constructed using the traditional “bolt-back” method. The chairs stand on ring turned front legs, sabre rear legs and the seat frame boasts an elegant bowed reeded front rail. The chairs are heavy in weight and thus solid in joint.
Condition Report:
This set of chairs is in excellent condition. This is an original true set of chairs, which have not been matched together from smaller set of chairs, like other chairs on the market. The chairs have been tightened wax polished in our workshop to a high standard. Nominal old use marks to the leading edges, with some colour variation, but nothing significant considering the age of the chairs. Importantly, there are no breaks to the backs, frames or legs of any of the chairs. Therefore the chairs are solid in joint and ready to be used. The drop-in seats have been newly upholstered in top quality oatmeal colour structured chenille upholstery. The upholstery is therefore clean, free from wear and marks. If you do not like the colour/style of the upholstery, we can recover the seats in a fabric of your choice. If you would like the seats recovered, please contact us for a quote. As the chairs boast the original polish, they have a fantastic colour and patination. This colour and patination cannot be re-created if the chairs have been re-polished. The chairs are well-constructed, heavy in weight, solid in joint and are ready to be used.
