Superb Victorian Carved Walnut Armchair

A really bold and fine quality example of an early Victorian armchair. The chair is of the desirable 'tub' form which developed out of later Georgian designs. The chair has generous and comfortable proportions. The wood is a fine figured walnut which is boldly carved with fruit which stands so proud it looks like it could almost be picked off. The chair retains a superb original patina and rich colour that glows. We have reupholstered the chair to the highest standard in blue velvet with gold velvet buttoning and cushion to match. The upholstery reflects the rich fabrics and bright colours that it would have originally had. The whole is in good condition with the original castors, it does have an old repair to one of the back legs, and the chair is extremely robust and usable. C.1850.
