An attractive pair of late 19th century mahogany side chairs in the George III style after a model by Gillows. The carved toprail above a pierced splat with scrolling lines uniting top and lower backrail over a shaped caned seat on lightly splayed turned supports. English circa 1890.
An elbow model of this chair, by Gillows of Lancaster, can be found in the Victoria and Albert museum.
