Description:
This style of chair was also known as a “Captains chair” and boasts large proportions. The chair incorporates a curved, buttoned padded backrest, secured to mahogany wraparound upholstered arms, on shaped vertical supports. Below, the back incorporates a bank of vertical shaped spindles with shaped vertical arm supports. The chair has been newly upholstered with traditional horsehair filling and top quality full grain burgundy red leather, finished with hand-tacked brass studs to the perimeter.
Condition Report:
The chair and mechanism are in excellent working condition. Nominal old use marks to the leading edges of the mahogany frame but nothing significant considering the age of the item. The chair has been newly upholstered with horsehair and top quality full grain burgundy red leather, which has been finished with hand-tacked brass studs to the perimeter. The seat has been re-sprung, to ensure it is firm but comfortable. The underside of the seat has been recovered with hessian in the traditional manner.
