Antique Beech Smokers Bow Armchair By J Elliot And Son

Status: This item has been sold
Sold by: In A Nutshell Antiques and Interiors

An attractive and good quality 'Smoker's Bow' armchair, dating from the early 20th Century. It has a comfortable wide and deep seat with broad arms, turned spindles and thick turned legs joined by a double stretcher. The rear of the seat is engraved with the maker's name "J.Elliot & Son" who worked in High Wycombe from the late 1800s to the mid 20th century.
The chair is approximately 29" (74cm) high. The seat is 19" (49cm) deep and it is 26" (66cm) wide across the arms.
It is in good condition and is a strong and sturdy chair. It has developed a nice aged patina over the years. The chair is not without a few small marks and signs of age and use but no major damages and nothing detrimental. The grain is wonderful and it displays very nicely.
