Description:
A famous design first used around 1850 by the Michael Thonet Company in Germany for cafes, restaurants and bars around Europe. Constructed from steam bent beech, these chairs feature backs comprising of one larger curved outer hoop, with a smaller curved inner hoop, converging at the top. The back connects directly to the solid circular beech seat, which boasts excellent grain configuration. The chairs rest on splayed legs, with the outer hoop of the chair backs continuing downwards to form the two rear legs in one single piece. A single curved stretcher for additional strength unites the legs. The chairs feature a stunning rich colour with fabulous grain configuration visible on the seats. These chairs boast classic bentwood styling, and they would be at home in either a traditional or contemporary setting. They also consume very little space. This is a true set of chairs; they have not been matched together from individual chairs.

Condition Report:
The chairs are in good original condition. There are no breaks or damage to the seats or legs. Nominal old use marks to the leading edges (e.g. seats, backs and legs) but nothing significant considering the age of them. This is a true set of chairs; they have not been matched together from individual chairs. The chairs have been French polished in our workshops; therefore they boast a lovely rich deep brown colour. The chairs sit firm on the ground and do not wobble. They are well constructed, solid in joint and ready to use.
