Windsor Chair in Ash with Elm Seat Retford Maker

Description

An Unusual Low Back Windsor Chair in Ash with an Elm seat, it has all the hall marks of an early Retford chair maker William Wheatland c 1820, crinolin stretcher, single ring leg turning, shaped underarm support and scratch carved line round the edge of the seat, but it has a notch carved out under the ends of the arms and the vertical spindles do not exit underneath the seat, so actually a bit of a mystery chair, The condition is excellent with a pleasing colour and patina
