Royal Holloway College Founders Chairs, Circa 1885

Description

Oak students chairs from Royal Holloway College, with solid oak seats over attractive turned front legs and stretchers, reeded stick backs and top rail carved ‘RHC’. Seven available as a set or individually at £165 each.

NOW ONLY ONE REMAINING.

Provenance, acquired directly from Royal Holloway University of London, commissioned by Thomas Holloway and opened by Queen Victoria in 1886. Forming part of the last original Founders furniture ever likely to be decommissioned from this fantastic building.

Whilst we deal mostly with mahogany furniture of the Georgian period designed by some of the greatest furniture designers such as Chippendale, Sheraton, Hepplewhite and Adam we also have a very good in depth knowledge of all the main periods of English furniture design from early oak to Regency and Victorian.
