Description

This is a really outstanding Regency style gilt and gesso marginal mirror dating from the mid 19th century, circa 1850. The mirror is a superb quality piece in fine condition with its original most attractive water gilding throughout. The mirror has a fabulous design, with separate marginal mirrors around the edge, all the original glass, in lovely clean condition. The gilded frame is hand carved to the highest standard with mythical masks adorning the upper section as well as a central maiden mask carved and gilded at the base. This has a fine crest also, with four hand carved outswept feathers at the centre. A really fine example of grand scale and a real showstopper. This has great scale, measuring 194 cms by 100 cms, and would look at home in the grandest of situations.
