A rare Charles II oak child''s chair ,the turned legs united by stretchers,original seat and bearing the initials WC and WG inside the left arm,DG stamped into the back seat rail.Good colour and patina,there is an old repair at the top of the left leg where it meets the rail and the right arm has been strengthened at the back by a tenon,but basically the chair is in great condition for one made Circa 1685.
Provenance:
The Earl of Powis,Lymore Hall,Montgomery,a fine Elizabethan Manor House purchased in the 1920''s by Fred Anderson,his son David,born in 1920,sat in this chair whenever he could get his elder sister Joan out of it! Thence by descent to the seller.
