Regency Mahogany Bergere Library Chair

19th century
Description

Circa 1815, Regency mahogany bergere library chair. With curved top rail that has scrolling ends and reeding that continues down the back and to the arms. The underside and inside of the chair has a continuing scrolling pattern, and the back has its original caning above a removable cushion on the seat frame (the original caning to the seat has been removed).The back is supported by two turned uprights, and the back legs are slightly outswept, whilst the front has sabre legs with similar reeding.
