Here is a fine quality antique English Victorian mahogany and leather captain’s office armchair, circa 1880, which has been newly upholstered and is in very good condition.

Description:

Here is a fine quality antique English Victorian mahogany and leather captain’s office armchair, circa 1880, which has been newly upholstered and is in very good condition. The chair has been newly upholstered in top quality full grain crimson red leather. The chair features an elegant curved leather scroll back, finished with deep buttoning, secured to shaped side supports and a carved vertical central back splat. The leather scroll back features lovely mahogany moulding caps above the shaped supports at the front of the chair. The stuff over seat has been re-sprung and re-webbed to ensure that the seat is extremely comfortable to sit on. The underside of the seat has been finished with hessian in the traditional manner. The bow-fronted seat is finished with brass studwork to its perimeter. The chair stands on prominent ring turned legs to the front, with splayed legs to the rear, and terminates on its original brass and porcelain castors.

Condition Report:

The chair is in good condition. Nominal old use marks to the leading edges of the mahogany frame but nothing significant considering the age of the item. The chair has been newly upholstered in top quality full grain crimson red leather. Therefore, the leather is in excellent condition, with no signs of wear and tear, damage or holes etc. The chair frame incorporates the traditional brass studwork tacks to the sprung seat perimeter and traditional hessian material to the underside. The chair frame features a rich red-brown mahogany colour, having been cleaned and polished in our workshops. The chair boasts the original brass and porcelain castors, which are also in good condition. This item is solid in joint and ready to use.
