Description:
This is a good quality pair of late Georgian mahogany chairs, circa 1800, in the style of the Chippendale period, with newly upholstered seats, in good condition. The chairs are constructed of solid mahogany and feature a shaped top rail, with a finely executed pierced central fretwork back splat, flanked by vertical moulded rails. Incorporating a drop-in seat design, the seat frames are finely moulded. The seats have been newly upholstered in top quality embroidered structured silk damask upholstery with a gold wheatsheaf pattern on a black background. Therefore the seats are in excellent and clean condition, with no marks. The seats are well padded and firm but comfortable at the same time - you do not sink into the seat. The chairs feature moulded block legs to the front, with sabre legs to the rear, united by ‘H’ stretchers for additional strength. Please note, this is a true set of chairs; they have not been matched together from other sets of chairs.

Condition Report:
The chairs are in good original condition. Nominal old use marks to the leading edges of the frames, but nothing significant considering the age of the item. There have been old repairs to the chair frames. The chairs have been wax polished and all loose joints have been glued in our workshop; therefore the chairs are now solid in joint. This is a true set of chairs (they have not been matched together). The seats have been newly upholstered in top quality embroidered structured silk damask upholstery with a gold wheatsheaf pattern on a black background. Therefore the seats are in excellent and clean condition, with no marks. The seats are well padded and firm, but comfortable at the same time - you do not sink into the seat. As the chairs retain the original polish, the frames boast a lovely original colour and patination that has some variation. They are solid in joint (not loose or wobbly) and are ready to use.
